Privacy
The short version: our games have no ads, no accounts and no tracking. Your progress stays on your device. We only receive data when you send us a report, or when you switch on anonymous play statistics.

What stays on your device
Your saves, settings and progress are stored on your device and never sent to us. Deleting the game deletes them.
Anonymous play statistics (optional)
If you switch on Anonymous play statistics in Settings, the game sends us information about how it is played, so we can find labs that are too hard and screens that break. It is off until you switch it on, and you can switch it off at any time; nothing more is sent after that.
What is sent:
- a random number created by the game the first time it sends statistics, so we can tell one installation's events from another's. It isn't linked to your name, your store account or any advertising identifier;
- what happens in play: labs started and finished, brews, scores, cards chosen and settings changed;
- the game's version, the platform and device model (for example "iPad13,16"), and whether it is a phone, tablet, headset or computer;
- error messages from the game's own code, with the place in the code where they happened.
We use PostHog (PostHog Inc., with data stored in its EU cloud in Frankfurt) to receive and analyse these statistics. Your internet connection's IP address reaches PostHog's servers when the data is sent; it is not stored with the statistics. We keep statistics for up to one year. The legal basis is your consent (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR), which you withdraw by switching the setting off.
Beta test builds (TestFlight, Steam Playtest, Google Play testing) start with statistics switched on, because measuring play is what the test is for. Testers are told this when invited and can switch statistics off in Settings at any time. Released versions of the game always start with them off.
Crash reports from the stores
If your device is set to share analytics with app developers, Apple or Google may send us anonymous crash reports. These are controlled by your device settings and the store's own privacy policy, not by us.
Purchases
Purchases are made through Steam, the App Store, Google Play or the Meta Quest Store. The store handles payment; we never see your payment details or your store account.
Bug reports and support
When you report a problem, from the game or from our support page, or email us, we receive what you send:
- your description of the problem, and your email address if you give one;
- from the game's Speak to Faculty (in Settings), only when you choose a topic: the game's version and build, your platform and device model, which screen and lab you were on, and the last lines of the game's log, with your user folder's name removed. You then get a report number and the game opens calamityspace.com, where you describe the problem (see below). The game also uses your build to tell you if a newer one is available.
Reports are stored on our own server and used only to fix problems and to reply to you. Reports from the support page are kept for up to two years and reports from the game for up to one year, then deleted. To limit spam, our server keeps a one-way scrambled form of your IP address for one day; it does not keep the address itself. The legal basis is our legitimate interest in fixing our games and answering you (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR), or, where you ask us something, handling your request (Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR).
CalamitySpace comments (Spookytalk)
On calamityspace.com you can leave a comment for a member of the College's (fictional) faculty, who replies in character. The replies are written by Spookytalk, an AI system that runs on our own computers; your comment is not sent to any outside AI company.
- No account and no real name. The site gives you a made-up name (from "the Registrar"). Please don't write anything personal: comments that contain links, email addresses or phone numbers are not published.
- What we keep: your comment, the made-up name, the time, the reply, and our notes on it (for example whether it was a bug report). If you came from the game's Speak to Faculty, the build's version and device type, and the report number that links your comment to the details the game sent. To stop spam, our server keeps a one-way scrambled form of your IP address for one day; it does not keep the address itself.
- What is public: comments we approve appear on the page with their replies, under the made-up name. Every comment and reply is checked, by automatic filters and by a person, before it appears. Comments we don't publish are deleted after 30 days; published ones stay until we take them down, or you ask us to.
- In your browser: the site remembers the made-up name and the numbers of the comments you sent, so it can show you when a reply arrives. This is kept only in your browser's storage, is never sent anywhere else and is not used to track you. Clearing your browser data removes it.
- Reporting: every published comment has a Report link. Reported comments are hidden until we have looked at them.
The legal basis is our legitimate interest in running the site and improving the game from players' feedback (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR). Storing the name in your browser is necessary for the comment service you chose to use (§ 25(2) TDDDG).
This website
This website uses no cookies, no analytics and no third-party services; its fonts and images are served from our own server. Like every web server, ours records each request in a log (IP address, time, page requested, browser type) to keep the site secure and working. The server is run for us by Counterpart Systems, 415 Blackburn Road, Bolton, BL1 8NJ United Kingdom, and stands in the United Kingdom, which the EU recognises as protecting personal data to its standard (adequacy decision, Art. 45 GDPR); our bug reports and email are kept there too. Logs are deleted automatically after a short period. The legal basis is our legitimate interest in running a secure website (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR).
Your rights
You have the right to ask what data we hold about you, and to have it corrected, deleted or restricted, to receive it in a portable form, and to object to its use. Where we rely on your consent, you can withdraw it at any time. Write to support@bagel-beagle.games. Because play statistics are anonymous, we usually can't find yours; switching the setting off stops any more being sent.
You can also complain to a data protection authority, for example the Berlin Commissioner for Data Protection and Freedom of Information (Berliner Beauftragte für Datenschutz und Informationsfreiheit).
Children
Our games collect nothing by default, need no account and contain no ads, so they can be played without sharing any personal data.
Changes
If we change how our games handle data, we'll update this page and the date at the top.
